We are so sorry to lose Jack McCarthy (January 17) who lived in Seattle but was originally from Boston. If you ever got to hear Jack read, you would remember it, and it you’d want to improve your own way of getting a poem across. Jack’s poetry is tender, funny and profound. He was so warm-hearted and lovable. I particularly like this photo because it shows his blue eyes and smile. I got to meet Jack when he came and read in Portland, Maine on a couple of tours in New England.
Jack’s website is www.standupoet.com and there are links to him reading poems. You can find him on YouTube, too.
I was privileged to publish one of his books, ALMOST A REMEMBRANCE, which has sold well. It’s on our website, of course, at www.moonpiepress.com.
The comments and reminiscences on Jack’s Facebook page make it clear how many people loved him and his poetry. Our condolences to his wife Carol and his family. So many people miss you, Jack.
